On August 14, 2025, the SEA Coalition for Academic Freedom (SEACAF), through its Regional Director Dr. Bencharat Sae Chua, and Universitas Muhammadiyah Surabaya, represented by Vice Rector for Finance and Infrastructure Dr. Endah Hendarwati, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The partnership reflected the commitment of both institutions to work more closely together in academic and research activities.
Guided by SEACAF’s core values of solidarity and collaboration, the agreement strengthened regional and global networks to defend academic freedom through cooperation, advocacy, and mutual support. It also opened opportunities for joint research, evidence-informed recommendations for policy advocacy, and academic exchange, helping advance education, knowledge-sharing, and democratic principles in the region.
