Reimagining Freedom: Southeast Asian Youth for Creative Expression and Critical Thinking

Join us in Celebrating the International Academic Freedom Day!

International Academic Freedom Day is a global moment to recognize the right of students, educators, and researchers to think freely, question openly, and share knowledge without fear or censorship.

We celebrate Academic Freedom because the space where ideas grow must be protected. Where truth is questioned. Where learning stays independent from political pressure, institutional control, and the slow erosion of dissent.

But celebration without commitment is empty. To mark this day is also to accept a responsibility — to speak when that space is threatened, to stand with those who teach and research under pressure, and to ensure that the next generation inherits a world where inquiry is still free.

This International Academic Freedom Day, we stand in solidarity with every scholar, student, and educator in Southeast Asia who has been silenced, threatened, or punished for simply seeking and speaking the truth.
